Rich, powerful and beautiful they may be, but the Beckhams are probably having a worse day than you. Brooklyn, the eldest son of the family, has broken his silence about the rift with his parents. And he didn't mince words - from the "anxiety" he says accompanied him growing up in the spotlight to his mother's "inappropriate dancing" at his wedding and beyond. Here's an explanation of all his Instagram claims and other details.

1. Body language experts were probably right.
Brooklyn Beckham has shocked the internet with a few claims, but the gist of it is this: he confirmed that he has distanced himself from his parents and has no desire to reconcile with them. As widely speculated, the clash is related to his relationship with Nicola Peltz, a 31-year-old actress best known as Brooklyn's wife, but also for her roles in "Bates Motel" and the fourth "Transformers" film.
The couple began dating in late 2019, confirmed their relationship in January 2022, and married in April of that year. The tabloids, along with their usual panel of body language “experts,” have attempted to portray Nicola as a fame-hungry American who has come to stir up trouble within the Beckham family.
Now, Brooklyn calls this narrative “completely twisted,” saying that if anyone has tried to control him, it’s been his parents. He describes the Beckham family’s disapproval of Nicola and their constant attempts to “destroy” their relationship. “My wife has been consistently treated with disrespect by my family, despite our efforts to be a family,” he writes.
The night before the wedding, according to Brooklyn, "my family members told me Nicola 'isn't our blood' and 'isn't family'" (which begs the question: who did they want Brooklyn to marry?) Although he's not exactly clear on the legalities, Brooklyn also claims that his parents pressured him to sign a "waiver" of rights to the Beckham name, ostensibly to prevent Nicola from having any claims as his future bride.

2. When family talks about "block" and "unfollow"
While it's clear that this feud has been simmering for some time, Brooklyn's decision to air his case publicly appears to have been prompted by a recent statement from his brother, Cruz. Just days before Christmas, Cruz, 20, posted an Instagram story in which he denied rumors that David and Victoria had unfollowed Brooklyn. "IT'S NOT TRUE. My mom and dad would never unfollow their son... They woke up blocked... So did I," he wrote.
Brooklyn now says his brothers, Cruz and Romeo (23), were previously ordered to “attack” him on social media and that they suddenly blocked him last summer. He presents this as part of a long-standing pattern of family image management, operating behind the scenes, which, he says, forced him to finally speak out. “I have been silent for years and have done everything I can to keep these matters private,” he writes. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press… I am not being controlled, for the first time in my life I am standing up for myself.”
David and Victoria have yet to publicly respond. On Tuesday morning, Beckham was photographed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, "trying to look strong," as the Daily Mail put it. Ironically, this year's theme is "The Spirit of Dialogue."
3. Family gatherings have been, understandably, fraught with tension.
Brooklyn's absence from David's 50th birthday party last year became a key moment in the saga and was widely interpreted as proof of Nicola's influence. Now, Brooklyn says he and Nicola traveled to London to spend "quality time" with David, but were "rejected" by the head of the family himself.
According to him, David Beckham was willing to meet his son only during the party, “with a hundred guests and cameras everywhere,” or privately, but “on the condition that Nicola was not invited.” “It was a slap in the face,” Brooklyn writes. Later, when the family traveled to Los Angeles, where Brooklyn and Nicola live, “they refused to meet me at all.”

4. A wedding and many unsaid things
Another point Brooklyn has been keen to clarify is his wedding in April 2022. According to reports at the time, Nicola Peltz was expected to wear a dress designed by Victoria Beckham, but ended up wearing Valentino instead — which was widely interpreted as a snub to her mother-in-law. Now, Brooklyn says Nicola was forced to find an alternative after Victoria cancelled the dress "at the last minute."

He and Nicola, at least, have the support of Rebecca Loos – David Beckham's former personal assistant, who claimed to have had an affair with David in 2004. Beckham has always denied this accusation, including in the 2023 documentary.
Responding to a commenter on Instagram, Loos wrote: “I’m so happy he’s finally standing up for himself and speaking out!!!! I feel so sorry for his poor wife, knowing full well how they can be!” Quoting Brooklyn, she added: “The truth always comes out.”
9. An iconic family in crisis
As tabloids rush to dissect and feed Brooklyn's numerous claims one by one, his post has also opened a broader debate on family estrangement, a phenomenon that is said to be increasingly common among young people who are severing ties with their families.
Brooklyn has attempted to present the "departure" from his family as a positive development, saying that for the first time in his life he has no anxiety and that he has found "calm and relief" with Nicola.
However, it's fair to say that he has yet to find his calling in life, as evidenced by his short-lived forays into modeling, photography, and cooking. Nor has he managed to escape the constant attention that his last name brings.
