As cliché as it may sound, before you get into a relationship, make sure to work on yourself. This doesn't necessarily mean having a good job that will earn you a significant income. The better you know yourself and your limits, the more clearly you will know what you deserve and what you shouldn't tolerate, both from yourself and from your partner.
Here are five behaviors that will save you a lot of stress during unpleasant situations in marriage.
1. Understand what you are responsible for
If your partner is not feeling fulfilled for various reasons, it is important to understand that this is not automatically your responsibility. Especially at the beginning of a relationship, there is often a desire to be the one to fix everything and solve every problem. But you should be clear that this is not necessarily your job. Don't let guilt weigh you down for things that belong more to your partner's inner world and that are not under your control.
2. Stay true to your interests.
It's enough to have that and I'm happy!
This is one of the effects that relationships have. They isolate you within a comfort zone, so much so that for one reason or another we choose not to risk it for anything in the world. It is important not to forget your hobbies, after all, even before you got into a relationship, they were the only things that motivated you.
3. Be aware of your needs and don't hesitate to ask for them.
If your partner meets a good portion of your needs, then congratulations, but sometimes it's necessary to make this possible for yourself. When your needs are met, the feeling of satisfaction in the relationship increases and everything seems to work out for the best.
4. Learn to say and hear the word "no"
There are many ways to refuse a request from your partner without being rude. But you should also show the same understanding when you receive a polite "no" from him/her.
5. Don't be afraid to show empathy.
Within a relationship, one of you is always the "pillar", the shoulder you can always lean on, because he or she manages emotions best. Understand that being strong is not always the responsibility of one of you. Show your fears without hesitation when you feel the need to do so.
