Invited to "Rudina" on RTV Klan, Jonida Maliqi spoke once again after a long time about her divorce from her ex-husband, which occurred more than 8 years ago.
To begin with, Jonida emphasized that she and her ex-husband met at a very young age, so the separations over the years were not so unnatural:
"I got married at a very young age, I got married at 17 and spent 17 years with Dan's father. I got divorced at 34, of course Dan was very young, he was 5 years old and I needed to be a family."
And now she reflects that young age was one of the factors that led to the separation:
"However, it was a choice that I think came as a result of the time when you get to know each other at a very young age, people start to think differently, react differently, evolve and you are no longer the person you once were; and especially for us mothers, women, a kind of metamorphosis happens and we start to look at it from a different perspective, the priority is the child, not yourself."
In the end, Jonida states that a decision that prioritizes your dignity and well-being, although it may lead to the couple's separation, is always the healthiest:
"So I think it's better to be in a minimized family, but be happy within the four walls of the house, than to have insecurity, have conflicts, and not be at peace with yourself."
I think divorce is not easy, absolutely, but it is not the end of the world either. We are born alone and we will die alone. Above all, I love myself the most and when I love myself I will love anyone who will respect me, appreciate me and walk with me through good and bad.
"I think two parents should be there for each other through good and bad."
