Revenge is a dish best served cold, but for Astronomer, "the iron is struck while it's hot," so the company has decided not to stop the virality.
Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Coldplay singer Chris Martin, has joined forces with tech startup Astronomer in a promotional video, poking fun at the scandal involving the company's former CEO Andy Byron and former human resources director Kristin Cabot, who were filmed on a "kiss cam" during a Coldplay concert near Boston.
In the video posted on the company's official account on the X platform (formerly Twitter), the famous actress says:
“Thank you for your interest in Astronomer. I have been hired for a very short period of time to speak on behalf of the company’s more than 300 employees.”
Paltrow notes that Astronomer has been getting “a lot of questions these days,” and that she’s here to answer some of the most common ones. But instead of talking about the scandal, she elegantly dodges any questions and jumps right into describing the company:
“Astronomer is the best place to use Apache Airflow.
We are happy that so many people are discovering how interesting data flow automation is.”
The video opens with a screen where someone writes: "God! What the hell happened?", and then cuts to Paltrow, who speaks calmly, as if nothing happened.

When the video attempts to address the question of the company's social media image crisis, the sentence is cut off in mid-sentence, and Paltrow immediately moves on to an upcoming event:
“Yes, there are still spaces available for our Beyond Analytics event in September. Now we’ll get back to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our clients.”
The video ends with another "thank you" from Paltrow:
“Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”
This humorous and sarcastic video comes more than a week after Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, now resigned from their positions, were seen hugging on a "kiss cam" during a Coldplay concert. The video went viral, especially for the awkward way in which they reacted.
This behavior even prompted Chris Martin to joke on stage, saying that the couple "are either very shy, or they're in a secret relationship."

Anyway, the Astronomer marketing department deserves a raise!
