Meghan Markle has some smart advice for all the moms-to-be who are still looking for a name for their baby. In a new episode of the podcast "Confessions of a Female Founder," the Duchess of Sussex said that you shouldn't ask others to decide on your future baby's name.
"I say this to every woman in the world or every person who is going to become a parent: If you have an idea for a name for your baby, hold the name very close to your heart until the baby is born and you decide on it. Don't ask anyone for an opinion."
So, basically, if you like a certain name, give it to your baby regardless of what others say.
Meghan and Prince Harry are parents to Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 3. They discussed the idea of ??naming their daughter with the royal family, after being inspired by the nickname the late Queen Elizabeth had as a child.
"The Duke spoke to his family earlier. In fact, his grandmother was the first person in the family he called. During the conversation, he told her that he wanted to name the girl Lilibet, in her honor. But if she had not supported him, they would not have decided on the name Lilibet," a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess told People.
As for their son, the couple revealed in 2022 that they had been between choosing Archie and Harrison as their first names, but ultimately decided to use Harrison as their middle name.
On the podcast, Meghan said that choosing a name for a child “isn’t that different from choosing a name for your company.”
After all, both are considered children.
