Since its premiere 35 years ago, on March 23, 1990, the film "Pretty Woman" has earned its place in cinematic history, thanks in part to its unconventional love story and iconic costumes.
The Golden Globe-nominated film — directed by the late Garry Marshall — features sex worker Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts, in an Oscar-nominated performance) and wealthy entrepreneur Edward Lewis (Richard Gere). After a chance meeting on Hollywood Boulevard, where Edward stops to ask for directions to an address, he hires Vivian to spend the night with him at a hotel, and the rest is history.
