One thing we often skip due to the fast pace of life is breakfast.
Many times we think that we will either "save" on calorie intake if we don't eat something for breakfast, or that the first meal of the day is not that important. However, scientific studies have reached completely opposite conclusions.
Even if our breakfast contains foods with a higher concentration of sugar than a balanced meal, consuming it helps the brain function and improves memory function.
In any case, based on the studies above, people who skipped breakfast were less likely to remember words and stories told to them in various experiments. And because of their reduced energy levels, they felt tired and, consequently, less likely to feel joy, even if everything was going well.
Cortisol levels in the body, which are high in the morning and gradually decrease throughout the day, are directly affected by food intake, as are many other hormones. Eating food in the morning helps the body control their concentration so that we don't feel anxious and sad.
Feelings of sadness can also be caused by the various cravings we develop when we haven't eaten breakfast, as the body tries to find the nutrients it has been deprived of elsewhere.
Therefore, eating a balanced breakfast that includes protein, carbohydrates, and fiber can set us up for the whole day, and for no reason should we experiment on our bodies and consequently our emotional state.
