Gal Gadot went through a scary health challenge before giving birth to her fourth child, Ori, saying she had a massive blood clot on her brain and needed emergency surgery to save her life.
The actress shared a photo of her nursing baby lying in a hospital bed and looking completely exhausted, which she details why in her Instagram caption.
Gadot said this year has been one of the most challenging of her life, admitting that she was torn about whether or not she wanted to share this story and that she ultimately decided she should let her heart guide her.
The actress said that in February, during the eighth month of pregnancy, she was diagnosed with a blood clot in the brain. She endured excruciating headaches for weeks before realizing the real problem.
Gadot went on to confess that she was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery just hours after she got there.
Gal wrote: "My daughter, Ori, was born in a moment of uncertainty and fear. Her name, which means 'my light,' was not chosen by chance. Before the operation, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrives, she would become the light that awaited me at the end of this tunnel."
Ultimately, Gal said she has made a full recovery and encourages people to take care of their bodies "because awareness saves lives."
She also says that many pregnant women deal with these blood clots and she is trying to bring attention to this medical complication for other mothers.
Ori is Gadot's fourth child. Her three other children: Alma, Maya and Daniella, were born in 2011, 2017, 2021 respectively.
Gadot has several movies coming out next year, but it seems work was the last thing on her mind this year.
