A new trend on TikTok has caught the attention of therapists, who believe it can help detect some health problems. It's the "march trend," where participants close their eyes and march in place for a minute, usually to the tune of Rednex's hit Cotton Eye Joe.
The goal of the game is to stay in the same position you started in, within a square drawn on the floor. But, most people fail and end up moving from their starting place without realizing it.
While it seems like a fun and harmless game, therapists have explained that this exercise can help detect problems with balance or dizziness. According to experts at "Rebalance," a physiotherapy center, this trend is used to assess the health of the inner ear and problems related to dizziness or sensitivity to movement.

In a video published on TikTok (@rebalance.pt.sc), they explain:
"This is a test that we use as physiotherapists to determine if we should treat someone for vertigo, motion sensitivity or inner ear problems. The test is called 'Stepping Fukuda' and according to studies, if after 25 steps you deviate more than 30 degrees in one direction, you can have a deficit."
This creative way to understand more about health is another example of how platforms like TikTok can be an educational tool in addition to being entertaining. For those who are curious to try this trend, remember: a walk in the country can reveal more than you think!
