Three things people regret at the end of their lives, according to the doctor

The moment of facing death often brings a deep sense of reflection and awareness of the life we ??have lived. In those final moments, people share emotional thoughts and often talk about things they didn't appreciate enough or that were left unfulfilled in their last words.

Julie McFadden, a nurse with 15 years of experience in palliative care, known on social media as "Hospice Nurse Julie", regularly shares stories and experiences with her patients. In an interview, she shared some of the most common regrets she encounters with her patients at the end of their lives.

1. Underestimation of good health

According to Julie, the main regret that most patients share is a lack of health appreciation. They often express:

"I wish I had realized how wonderful it is to have a body that works properly."

This shows that people tend to take health for granted until it starts to deteriorate.

2. Overwork and waste of time

Many patients feel they have spent too much time working, neglecting relationships and other important aspects of life. This regret underlines the importance of balance between career and personal life.

3. Relationships and misunderstandings

Another common regret has to do with relationships. People express regret for not saving important relationships or for holding grudges for too long. They often point out that they have lost a lot by worrying about what others think, instead of investing in honest relationships.

Tips for a life with as few regrets as possible

McFadden advises that both patients and their families be informed on how to handle this delicate phase of patients.

She recommends:

1.   Communication , both with doctors and nurses, as well as with relatives, to share feelings and needs as a form of relief or sometimes 'bequest' in the last moments of patients.

The facts shared by Julie remind us how important it is not to take life for granted. Health, relationships and time spent with loved ones are precious assets that deserve our daily attention and appreciation.

Let's remember: Every day is an opportunity to live fully and leave no room for regrets.
