Poland to stop sending arms to Ukraine as grain dispute escalates
Poland will no longer send weapons to Ukraine to focus on its defense, the Polish prime minister has said, hours after Warsaw summoned Kiev's ambassador amid a dispute over wheat exports.
"We are no longer transferring arms to Ukraine, because now we are arming Poland with more modern weapons," Mateusz Morawiecki said, in response to a question about whether Warsaw would continue to support Kiev despite the dispute over wheat exports.
Poland has been one of Ukraine's staunchest supporters since Russia invaded in February 2022 and is one of Kiev's main arms suppliers. The country also hosts one million Ukrainian refugees.
Tensions between Warsaw and Kiev began after Poland banned imports of Ukrainian wheat to protect the interests of its farmers.

The 14-year-old boy was handcuffed and walked out of his classroom on the outskirts of Paris on Monday. Government spokesman Olivier Veran said the arrest was made "in line" with policies against abusive behavior and aimed to send "a very strong message" to bullying pupils.
A police source told the AFP news agency that the decision to arrest the boy was based on the "extremely serious nature of the threats that required urgent detention".
