Middle East/ 27 killed as Israel steps up attacks on Lebanon
Israeli airstrikes hit several areas in Lebanon, killing 27 people on Wednesday, according to UNIFIL, which also reported that Israeli troops had fired at its observation tower in southern Lebanon.
In Nabatiyeh, more than six attacks hit the town and surrounding areas, killing 16 people and injuring 52 others, according to Lebanon's Ministry of Health.
Among the victims was the mayor of the city, Ahmad Kahil. Lebanon's interim prime minister, Najib Mikati, accused Israel of "deliberate attacks" on a city council meeting discussing aid. Meanwhile, the Israeli military claimed to have struck Hezbollah command centers and weapons facilities located in civilian areas.
Yemen/ The US bombs Houthi weapons depots
The United States launched airstrikes in Yemen, hitting five underground weapons depots and using B-2 long-range bombers, according to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
It is not yet clear what damage was caused by these attacks. The use of the B-2 Spirit in attacks against the Houthis is very rare, as they have been conducting attacks on ships for months. The B-2 is a much larger platform than the fighter jets that have been used so far to target Houthi facilities and weapons. Military aircraft are capable of carrying a much larger amount of bombs.
USA/ Kamala Harris promises to distance herself from Biden's presidency
In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris weighed in with host Bret Baier on immigration issues and policy changes, stressing that, if elected, she would not represent a continuation of Joe Biden's presidency.
"I want to be very clear. My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden's presidency. Like any new president coming into office, I will bring my personal and professional experiences as well as new ideas. I represent a new generation of leadership,” Harris said.
Harris' interview represented her first appearance on the network known for its conservative audience as she seeks to expand her influence with less than three weeks to go before Election Day.
During the conversation, Baier and Harris often talked over each other. When Baier continued to speak as Harris tried to respond to his challenges on immigration, she responded, “Can I finish, please? You have to let me finish, please.”
Harris tried several times to divert the conversation by attacking Donald Trump, but she also had plenty to say about herself.
Lezhë/ Protest in Albania for the migrant agreement with Italy
A group of activists protested on Wednesday as the first Italian ship with migrants caught in international waters arrived in Albania.
Demonstrators gathered near the entrance to the port of Shengjin, one of two hubs Italy opened in Albania last week, and displayed a banner reading: "The European dream ends here."
It is not the first time that we have protested against such an agreement. Last week, Italy officially opened two return centers in Albania under Rome's jurisdiction, where it plans to process thousands of asylum applications outside its borders.
