In a perfect world, we would all be healthy and happy enough to live 100 years. However, this mission is not always possible and we are aware of this. Merdith Bock, neurologist and longevity expert says there are certain habits that affect your lifespan. So, you are never too late if you want to live as long as possible.

Here are the nine most important of them:

#1 Get quality sleep

Rest is an important part of healthy and happy aging. Don't spend too much time on electronic devices, follow a relaxing bedtime routine and avoid stressful activities to sleep better.

#2 Add social activities

This type of approach plays an important role, especially when it comes to education. Join an activity in your community or neighborhood, a reading club, join a dance group and you will see many changes in yourself.

#3 Meditate regularly

It often seems as if the benefits of meditation are limitless, and that includes your longevity. Meditation has a huge impact on your sleep quality and overall calmness, so don't avoid it.

#4 Limit alcohol

Getting older sometimes means saying goodbye to certain habits, such as parties, alcohol, overeating, etc. but for good reason. Alcohol affects brain size and creates problems with memory and thinking process.

#5 Eat healthy

A healthy and nutritious diet is essential for aging. A Mediterranean diet full of fruits, vegetables and whole grains affects your brain health.

#6 Exercise regularly

No matter what age you are, physical activity should be part of your weekly routine. In the gym or outdoors, it's important to exercise, walk, play tennis, take a walk, there are so many options that work your body.

#7 Visit doctors regularly

If you suffer from certain chronic conditions or diseases for which you take medication, you should visit your personal or family doctor to manage the various symptoms you may have.

#8 Socialize with others

This is a life habit that makes people happy as well as healthy. The fact that you meet other people, share thoughts, affect the reduction of dementia. Make a phone call, have dinner with a friend, etc.
