Denmark officially approves the anti-Covid pill
A coronavirus pill, called "Merck" has been approved by Denmark, to be used by all patients who are in serious health condition and the elderly infected with Covid.
It was England that last month became the first country to adopt an anti-pandemic pill. Although the European Medicines Agency is still reviewing it, the US regulator is expected to approve it later this year. Following studies to date, the drug has been shown to reduce by 30% the need for hospitalization as well as the fatalities of the most vulnerable patients.
This pill should be given within 5 days of the first symptoms to treat to prevent the following high risk.
Europe on alert: New measures for the holiday season!
Fears of the spread of Omicron have prompted authorities in many European countries to tighten restrictive measures. A good part has increased the number of vaccinated with the third dose, the restoration of the mask indoors and increased measures for travelers coming from abroad.
Referring to expert warnings (that Omicron cases will increase significantly in the coming weeks), European countries are adopting new, stricter measures, urging citizens to be careful.
The Netherlands is closed again from yesterday (Sunday, December 19) until after Christmas. Shops, restaurants, bars, cinemas, museums, hairdressers, etc. will be closed until 14 January.
While in France, New Year's events will be canceled and people have been asked to make small family gatherings for the holiday dinner.
Germany has reinstated a two-week quarantine for travelers coming from Britain, as the latter has seen alarming increases in cases of Covid-19 and Omicron.
