There is no doubt that there are some places or workplaces that are very supportive and healthy for their employees, just as there are just as many toxic places that turn controlling and manipulative for their employees. But how do you understand that this phenomenon is also happening to you?
Here are some red flags that are the best indicators of manipulation in a workplace!
#1 Silent treatment
Holistic doctor Scott Lyons says that ignoring people, or giving them the "silent treatment" in the workplace can be a manipulative way to get someone to do something they don't want to do. If this happens, just talk to your boss or managers.
#2 Keeping information secret
Someone might do this to make you look unprepared in front of your bosses, or to make you perform poorly in a meeting or meeting. Unfortunately, it's not always easy to tell if someone is keeping information from you, but it's your job to complete any project or commitment you're faced with in any situation.
#3 Feeling guilty
This is a manipulation tactic that can be used in the workplace to get people to give up boundaries or blame others for issues they are not responsible for.
#4 Inconsistent handling
In fragile environments where it's easy to feel manipulated, you can feel like you're working in isolation. Try to get involved in projects with colleagues, in different meetings to see things differently.
#5 False promises
If you keep getting promises of promotions or salary revisions and still don't get them, then you're the one who has to deal with these false promises that make it even harder to get work done every day.
#6 A very emotional atmosphere
When you feel that you are working in an environment where employees are constantly more emotional than others, this can be a manipulative behavior to induce strong reactions or to put you in various negative situations.
