There are many people who enjoy summer to the fullest precisely because of the adrenaline it offers as a season...Sun, sea, sand, beach, long weekends and more escapes to new and beautiful destinations.

But, for some people especially summer weekends give a feeling of loneliness and sluggishness and psychologist Elizabeth Lombardo says that this is normal.

"You see people on beaches taking pictures and videos of fun places with friends and family. It gives you that feeling of failure, loneliness, the fact that you're not doing anything and you're stuck at home... All these together become factors that affect your mental state badly," she says.

Although it may sound strange, it seems that the summer months affect the sadness part of people, according to expert Lombardo.

"For some people, the heat of these months is an obstacle. The great heat, the sweat, the sun, you don't want to do activities because you have consequences from childhood when you found yourself in the sun for hours, so there are many factors that are stored in our subconscious to make summer one of the most unwanted," she adds.

If you want to get rid of this feeling of sadness and loneliness, during a season that has just started, you should treat summer weekends quite normally like all other weekends of the year. Prioritize the things that make you happiest, it could be a meeting with old friends, a barbecue with cousins ??and relatives or just staying at home.

Just remind yourself of the last time you felt good about yourself: It might have been reading a new book, a trip to the museums and art galleries in town, some new series on Netflix, trying a new cooking recipe etc.

If these things made you feel good, give yourself time to relive them during the summer, even though they seem like small and insignificant activities.

Another approach you should practice, according to expert Lombardo, is a digital detox, i.e. a break from social networks and stress-causing apps. Despite the fact that you know that the posts on TikTok or Instagram from the most beautiful beaches, from the coolest restaurants, are sometimes a pale of what is hidden behind, as the couple you know or your relatives have their own problems, still the mind does not stop comparing.

Practice meditation and digital detox, focus on the things that actually give you pleasure despite the fact that your friends or acquaintances have escaped for the weekend, and as little as possible feeling compared to the lives of others.

Only in this way you will get rid of the feeling of sadness and loneliness during the summer!
