Violence against women has become an unfortunately common phenomenon in recent times in Australia. Numerous events centered on violence against women are repeated and people have risen in numerous protests throughout the country, to raise awareness and stop gender-based violence. They are calling for gender-based violence to be declared a national emergency and tougher laws to be put in place to prevent it.
While the prime minister of the country, Anthony Albanese, said that the issue is a national crisis, since on average, for this year, one woman has been killed every four days. Regarding the protests and the demands of the protesters, the prime minister admitted that his government must improve in all dimensions.
Russia/ The arrest of independent journalists continues
In Russia, it has not stopped, on the contrary, the arrest of independent journalists continues to increase. Recently, two more journalists have been arrested. Sergei Karelin was arrested on charges of extremism in Murmansk, after allegedly making a video on the "Navalny Live" channel.
Karelin is 41 years old, a famous journalist and cameraman who has worked for media outlets such as "Associated Press" and "Deutsche Welle" and his arrest comes a day after his colleague, Konstantin Gabov, for whom the Moscow court ordered detention, for the same charge. According to the survey conducted by the Gallup agency, which has asked public opinion, the current US president, Joe Biden, is the least popular president in the last 7 decades. He has a support of 38.7%.
"About six months before the election, Biden is in a weaker position than any previous president," the Gallup pollsters say.
As for Donald Trump, who is running for a second term as president in the USA, he has greater support, of 46.8% of respondents, the same poll states.
War in Gaza/ A delegation from Hamas will participate in the ceasefire talks in Cairo
A Hamas delegation will travel to Cairo, Egypt to discuss the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza as the situation worsens. An unidentified Hamas official said that in this mediation held in Cairo, Hamas will talk about the ceasefire proposed by Israel. According to The Guardian, this ceasefire will be of a "humanitarian nature" and will allow humanitarian and medical aid to enter Gaza.
