We are officially in the spring season, which for many housewives or housewives means a "fundamental cleaning" and system of every corner in the house. When it comes to organizing our interior spaces, there are plenty of methods to draw inspiration from the Japanese KonMari to the ancient Chinese practice of feng shui.
But in recent years, a new Scandinavian approach seems to be making the rounds, and it's all about tidying up and tidying up before death.
What is this cleaning and organizing technique?
Of course, when we say "cleansing before death" it doesn't sound that exciting to practice as a technique. But, in Sweden, this method has long been materialized for people who want more order and system at home. Katarina Blom is a happiness psychologist and author of the program "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning" on NBC and can probably be considered one of the initiators of this method.
She believes that preparing for death, i.e. removing from use unnecessary items or items whose purpose is unknown, is a way to breathe freely and live the inner space in every dimension.
"Swedish cleaning before death is a method that focuses on minimizing objects, items or clothing that are no longer used or of value, thus easing the burden of embarrassment for close people or family members after death," says psychologist Regina Lark. "This has to do with the fact of selecting things to keep, those to throw away or give away with the aim of simplifying choices and life for the children or people you leave behind," she continues.
This approach emphasizes minimalism and avoiding clutter to prevent others from doing it for you, thereby removing the "weight" of responsibilities or memories from other family members, such as your spouse, children, relatives, cousins ??etc.
This Swedish technique of cleaning and organizing can be especially useful for the third age, but beyond that any person can materialize it as a practice by making it a part of life if they want as little clutter and "visual noise" in his/her home. .
Although Swedish death cleansing can be especially beneficial for older adults, Lark emphasized that anyone can undertake the process at any stage of life.
