
WHO says vaccination has saved millions of lives in the last 5 decades

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recalled that global efforts for immunization against various diseases have saved the lives of 154 million people in the last 50 years. Most of the vaccinated people were infants. In other words, this figure is equivalent to 6 lives saved every minute of every year, for half a century.
WHO conducted comparative analyzes of 14 vaccines used under the Expanded Program on Immunization and recalled the importance of discovering vaccines that have made preventable diseases that could not be prevented.
"Thanks to vaccines, smallpox has been eradicated, polio is on the verge of extinction and with the latest development of vaccines against diseases such as malaria and cervical cancer, we are pushing the boundaries of these diseases," said WHO chief Tedros. Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
