Shannyn Weiler is an interior designer known for furnishing interior spaces in homes, businesses, etc. But, a recent video of hers on TikTok has caused a debate by dividing people into attitudes about decorating the house with photos of herself, children or family members.
In the video, Shannyn says that she never puts a personal photo of herself, even from the most important moments of life, on the wall of the feeling space or other places in the house. "So family photos are not a good idea, as it seems to turn this into a sacred corner, ready to light candles," she says in the video.
Instead of family photos, people can put artwork or other special photos, but not of themselves or their family members. "The wall of the house cannot be turned into a family exhibition with photos of yourself, your children or your partner. You can mix themes by playing with art prints, colors etc,” she adds.
Her post upset many people who like to have family photos around the house. Most of the commenters were individuals who liked the idea of ??these photos scattered throughout the house and not just in the living room.
"Home is for us, not for friends or society," comments one woman. "I would rather have photos of my children and our life than floral prints or various artworks," says another.
Other people were divided in their attitude, thinking that such a choice was typical narcissistic.
But the professional Weiler, for her part, has stronger motives, based on the personal and professional plan, when she says that this is not a good finding. "In our field of furnishing, having too many portraits of yourself on display in your home is like having a tattoo of yourself on your body. Seems so pointless doesn't it? ".
Regardless of people's opinions on the matter, choosing whether or not to put photos of yourself or family members on the walls of your home is a personal thing.
