This is the story of a boy who couldn't love and a girl who didn't want to fall in love.
General information about the book
Ginny Murphy feels quite comfortable among boys. Friendship with them has always seemed simple, no fuss, no drama, at least as long as no one falls in love with one of them. Everyone has come to terms with this situation. But one day, she meets Adrian Silvas, the only one who makes her want much more than just friendship. From that moment on, Ginny begins
to question her own rules.
Little by little, Ginny and Adrian fall into a toxic and extremely dangerous relationship. Adriani, who has seen his mother's heartbreak, thinks that Gini is a kind of threat to what has been believed until now: that love is not worth risking at all. As for Djinn, the risk is even higher. By letting Adrian into her life, he might reveal a secret she's guarded and feels guilty about.
Ginny isn't looking for anyone to save her. But maybe she and Adrian can help each other, as long as they don't destroy her first.
A poignant and captivating book, Between Boys is a powerful story about true love, self-love, and the struggles of growing up.

Booklist
"Between Boys" is a heartbreaking and romantic novel, beautifully written and with a lot of originality, that shows us the human journey through trauma, recognition and self-love.
Samantha Young, New York Times & USA Today bestselling author
"Emma Noyes won me over with her spectacular debut. Between Boys is an honest, bare-knuckle look at the lives of twenty-somethings struggling to find love and themselves. Noyes writes with skill, care and honesty about subjects that are incredibly difficult, culminating in a brilliant work of fiction that I can't stop thinking about. Even after I finished the last page, it was impossible to put this book down."

Excerpts from the book
1) The creature inside me is made up of every insecurity, every bit of low self-esteem, every wrongdoing, every mistake, every man I've slept with but never loved. Every reason to hate the very body I live in. Constantly seeks approval and fears failure. It dictates my every decision, from the moment I open my eyes in the morning to the last slice of bread I eat during the day.
2) Can a man deceive himself into thinking he is in love? And if so, how do I know when the feeling is real? Maybe I'll never be able to tell when it's true. Maybe that's the point. Maybe, when it does, I'll just have to jump blindly into the feeling and pray that the emotions aren't trying to trick me.
3) ...I am so thirsty for love, that I feel as if a gap is tearing my chest in two; it started as a pinhole and is expanding more and more emptying me, making the emptiness I feel palpable.
4) I try to reason that I should eat normally, but it is impossible. Anxiety has already managed to identify every possible trap: too little food, too much food, not enough. At each meal, my brain goes from one option to another among these alternatives, pushing me to the corner of my mind that I already know very well.
5) He says he tried. According to her, he didn't even bother to do anything. He says that his heart is full. And he claims that he cannot give more than that. That it is irreparable. She cannot throw away the love she feels. How they would like to throw love behind their arms, both of them!
