Hot flashes at night, vaginal dryness or sudden hormonal acne are all well-known symptoms of menopause. But, brain menopause has not been talked about much, so there are a lot of details that you should know from the causes to the relief of the signs of this condition.

What is "brain menopause"?

Starting from the name of this symptom, everything is related to forgetfulness, difficulty in concentration, reduced cognitive ability, difficulty in articulation, etc. Dr. Kathleen Jordan says that many women who go through menopause also experience brain problems that are caused by the organic changes that occur after the hormone fluctuations. So, we are not dealing with an injury to this organ, but with a response of the brain to the hormonal changes that occur from perimenopause to menopause.

What causes this condition?

Dr. Jordan acknowledges that estrogen plays an important role in the neuroendocrine system, and symptoms occur in response to the drop in estrogen that occurs during menopause. She adds that: “Perhaps the most studied and appreciated hormonal influence on brain fog has been looking at estrogen in menopause and noting that it is associated with changes in metabolic brain function. We know that the brain has estrogen receptors, so it's not surprising that we see changes in the metabolic activities of brain cells when estrogen levels begin to decline in perimenopause and menopause,” she says.

How to relieve these symptoms?

It seems that you yourself are the one who is in control of the improvement from this condition, of course it seems that you referred to the suggestions of the doctors.

#1 Work on sleep quality

Daytime fatigue, mood swings, problems with focus are all problems that worsen during menopause. Try to sleep early, get quality sleep by maintaining an acceptable ambient temperature, avoiding alcohol before bed, etc.

#2 Consider hormone replacement therapy.

Estrogen replacement supports normal brain cell function, while progesterone replacement is associated with an increase in serotonin that makes you feel more relaxed and calm.

#3 Focus on overall health

Diet, supplements and exercise can have a positive effect on alleviating these symptoms.
