A doctor and a nutritionist share the secret of how you can eat carbohydrates without gaining weight and avoiding the other side effects associated with their consumption. Some theories have been circulating for some time that talk about the combination of carbohydrates with other ingredients that control the increase in blood glucose, which according to the French biochemist, Jessie Inchauspé, affects 80% of the world's population.
To clarify this detail, it should be noted that the increase in glucose itself does not cause weight gain, but this process brings about a chain of reactions in the body that lead to weight gain.
But how can this chain be avoided that, in addition to weight gain, also brings us many health problems in the long term?
Experts suggest that carbohydrates be consumed together with proteins, fruits and fats to slow down the absorption of glucose. For example, if bacon is added to bread, the effect will not be the same on the body. The technique is also recommended by Dr. Odile Fernández, in the book "Hábitos que te salvarán la vida" ("Habits that will save your life").
According to her, eating fresh fruit, or pasta with only tomatoes, will bring the glucose to the maximum, so she suggests:
- Eat fruits like sweets on a full stomach. If you eat them as medium meals, combine them with dried fruit and yogurt. Bananas, mangoes and melons are suggested for more frequent consumption.
- Pastas should be eaten with vegetables and proteins, for example with shrimp or chicken fillet. You can replace pasta with quinoa and accompany it with salmon or avocado and cheese, or soy.
- Choose black bread and eat it with olive oil, accompanied by tomatoes, eggs, hummus, cream cheese or peanut butter.
Another way to "hide" carbohydrates is to start the meal by eating vegetables or salads before the normal meal.
