A recent study by The Journal of the American College of Cardiology has revealed that for women and girls, less exercise may be better. According to them, women need less exercise to reduce the risk of death. If men need a minimum of 300 minutes of exercise per week to reduce their risk of death from cardiovascular causes by 18%, women need only 140 minutes in total to reduce their risk by 24%.
This is good news for all the ladies and gentlemen who can hardly bring themselves to go to the gym. The same study says that in value, the best you can get from exercise to increase your odds of longevity is 300 minutes a week of exercise, which translates to 4 hours of exercise in total. These figures are valid for both cardio and aerobic training.
Of course, longevity is not determined solely by the inclusion of exercise in the routine, but this factor has a large impact.
