It's a well-known fact that music is designed to bring out emotions, so we shouldn't be surprised by the other effect: a sad song makes us cry.
Andrew Rossetti, a music therapist says it is scientifically proven that music can regulate mood. "Music is something that affects the human organism in a systematic way. The emotional part of the brain is activated every time you listen to music, body movements increase along with cognitive processes," he says.
