We all know that music has a unique ability to touch our hearts and souls, evoking emotions ranging from deep sadness to joy. Beyond these, music has long been studied for its therapeutic effects, and recent research suggests that our favorite tunes can ease our pain.
"We can say that favorite music reduces pain by about one point on a 10-point scale, which is at least as strong as a pain reliever like ibuprofen," Darius Valevicius, the author, told the journal Frontiers in Pain Research. of research from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
After the tests, the participants rated the pain as less intense and less unpleasant when listening to their favorite songs.
Further work found that music that produced more chills was associated with lower pain intensity and unpleasant pain.
Now, make a list of your favorite songs and listen to them whenever something bothers you, physically or emotionally.
