Bebe Rexha considered not appearing at the 2023 MTV VMA awards at all, in order to avoid people commenting on her weight. In a video published on TikTok, the singer said:
"I'm very anxious and stressed about appearing on the red carpet...people will talk about my weight because I'm not loving myself very much at the moment," said the 34-year-old singer, adding that she didn't know if she would participated in the ceremony.

"I want to wear my dress and I want to celebrate my nomination and that of my friends", she emphasized, but again she felt anxious.
In conclusion, Rexha decided to appear at Tuesday's ceremony in one of the most important musical events. She was nominated for the best musical collaboration for her song with David Guetta, entitled "I'm Good (Blue)".
