Libya: Up to 2,000 people are suspected to have drowned as a result of the storm

As many as 2,000 people may have drowned as a powerful storm caused catastrophic flooding in the eastern Libyan city of Derna, according to the head of one of the country's two rival governments.
Ossama Hamad, prime minister of the government in the east, reported "more than 2,000 dead and thousands missing" in the city of Derna alone, after torrential rains over the weekend brought by Mediterranean storm Daniel. No medical or emergency service sources have confirmed the figures.
The exact death toll is difficult to know because of a lack of communication between the administrations of the two governments, which have been engaged in a decade-long power struggle and are each backed by their own militias.
Morocco: The death toll exceeds 2,800

The death toll from the earthquake in Morocco has exceeded 2,800. Friday's 6.8-magnitude earthquake, Morocco's deadliest in more than six decades, struck an isolated cluster of mountain villages 45 miles south of Marrakech and shook infrastructure as far north as the country's coast.
State television reported that the death toll had risen to 2,862 with 2,562 people injured, and it is expected that the number could rise as rescue teams reach villages in the mountains.

In a statement on Telegram on Monday, GUR said Kiev forces had recaptured the drilling rigs known as "Boyko Towers" in a "unique operation".
Intelligence said the platforms had been occupied since 2015 by Russia, which occupied and annexed Crimea in 2014, and had been used by Moscow for military purposes since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
