Tanned skin is never 100% healthy and this fact should be emphasized from the start! Prolonged sun exposure has a variety of risks, although you may like the look of slightly darker skin.
Be aware that staying in the sun for too long can increase the chances of:
- melanoma or other skin cancer
- dehydration
- sunburn
- premature aging of the skin
- sunstroke
- eye damage, etc.
If you want to get tan, at least make sure you minimize the risks:
1. Use sunscreen: Always wear sunscreen all over your body with an SPF of 30. Don't use tanning oil that doesn't offer sun protection. Be sure to apply the cream at least 20 minutes before going outside. SPF 30 is strong enough to block the sun's harmful rays, but not so strong that you don't tan.
2. Change positions frequently when standing in the sun: This will help you avoid burning a part of your body.
3. Don't stay outside longer than the skin can make melanin: Melanin is the pigment responsible for tanning. All bodies have a time limit where melanin production stops, usually 2-3 hours. After this period, the skin will no longer darken during the day, it will simply be damaged.
4. Hani ushqime të pasura me likopen: Likopeni ndihmon në mbrojtjen e lëkurës nga rrezet e dëmshme. Ushqime të pasura me likopen përmendim domatet dhe shalqirin.
5. Nxihuni me zgjuarsi: Shmangni qëndrimin në diell gjatë orëve kur dielli është shumë i fortë (midis mesditës deri në orën 3 pasdite). Këshillohen oraret e mëngjesit ose pas orës 3.
6. Qëndroni në hije: Kjo do të shmangë djegien e lëkurës dhe do t’i japë lëkurës mundësi për pushim.
7. Produktet vetë-nxirëse (self-tanners): Nëse doni një lëkurë më të errët pa e dëmtuar, mos harroni opsionin e produkteve vetë-nxirëse.
