We're officially in the age of artificial intelligence, and it gets a little scary at times.
Recently, a group of men on Reddit were tricked into thinking they were paying to see and talk to a beautiful woman, when in fact, they were talking to a robot.
The model named "Claudia" shared provocative photos and sent other photos to the boys.
People commented: "You look very beautiful", "You are wonderful", etc.
However, not everyone was convinced. Some noted that the "model's" skin looked too smooth to be true.
"For those who haven't noticed yet, I'm going to have to kill your imagination a bit. This is a creation of artificial intelligence. Sorry to spoil your surprise," one user wrote.
It turns out that the person in question was right, as Claudia was actually the creation of some computer science students with the username: 'u/Cl4ud14'.
They used a program called Stable Diffusion, which is open to the public.
The boys made about $100 selling the photos before they were discovered.
They told Rolling Stone:
“You could say that this whole account is just a test to see if you can fool people with AI pictures. Honestly, we didn't think it would get so much attention."
Once again, let this occasion serve to remind us that we should not believe everything we see on the Internet. Especially now that we are in the era of artificial intelligence, which is not only advancing more and more every day, but also becoming more accessible to more and more users.
