
For TikTok, there have been thousands of complaints because the app has not worked for several hours.
The Down Detector site says the app started experiencing problems around 9:40 a.m., with reported site outages suddenly increasing from just a few users to thousands.
TikTok has quickly become one of the most used apps by people, but amid all the controversy surrounding it, quite a few users thought that the app might be shut down.
People soon started complaining that they now have to watch "Instagram reels" or "YouTube short videos" - which they say are fads and a copycat version of TikTok videos.

In the US, there have been calls to ban the app from people's phones due to concerns that it is collecting user data. Some even call the app a "Chinese spy".
TikTok recently announced plans to limit users under the age of 18 to just 60 minutes of screen time per day to watch TikTok. This practice is also recommended for adults who do not want to spend hours and hours on TikTok.
