On the list of things that the royal family would obviously not have preferred Prince Harry to discuss in his book "Spare" is his experience with drugs.
The Duke of Sussex revealed more details during an online chat with trauma expert Gabor Maté where he said psychedelic drugs have helped him deal with past trauma.
Psychedelics are a subclass of hallucinogenic drugs whose primary effect is to induce unusual mental states (known as psychedelic experiences or psychedelic "trips") and/or a marked expansion of consciousness.
"It was like cleaning the windshield, taking off the filters on life — these layers of filters — it took it all off and brought me a sense of relaxation, relief, comfort," he said.
"I started taking it recreationally and then I started to realize how good it was for me," Harry added. "I would say it's one of the fundamental parts of my life that changed me and helped me deal with the trauma and pain of the past."
"They unlock so much of the stuff that we keep inside," he said.
Harry is not alone in talking about the real benefits of taking psychedelics, as a growing number of neuroscientists believe they can be used to treat a range of mental health issues. However, it should be noted that their intake should always come after consultation with a specialist doctor.
