Many Instagram users can't log into their account, have their account closed, or have lost a significant number of followers.
The outage began Monday morning and the most frequent message users have received reads:
"We suspended your account on October 31, 2002." (via Instagram)
The platform confirmed the issue on Twitter, saying:
"We are aware that some of you are having problems accessing your Instagram account. While we look into the issue, we apologize for the inconvenience."

The suspensions also caused the number of followers to drop dramatically, for hundreds of profiles. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo lost over 3 million followers.
Currently, some profiles are back to normal, others still not.
