The winners of "Love Island", Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu and Davide Sanclimenti, could be the cause of the increase in bookings to rest in Turkey and Italy this autumn.
Flights from the UK to Ekin-Su's hometown of Istanbul have increased by around 626% compared to last year, reports travel search engine KAYAK. While Davide's hometown of Rome is seeing 232% more site traffic compared to September-November 2021.
Could the loving couple have influenced the vacationers? "While this interest may be a coincidence, it's not the first time we've seen pop culture influence travel," commented Evan Day, manager of KAYAK, to Euronews.
"There certainly seems to be a lot of fanfare for the couple, and after announcing a new program where they will explore their birthplaces, it seems likely that fans will be looking to explore their birthplaces this fall."
Enkin-Su and Davide were declared the winners of "Love Island" in the United Kingdom. This program involves a group of contestants, referred to as islanders, who live isolated from the outside world in a villa, and in order to survive in the villa, the residents must mate with another resident, be it for love, friendship or money. The winning couple receive a total of £50,000.
The duo won most of the audience with their fiery, slightly noisy but very passionate relationship .
