Game of Thrones spinoff series House of the Dragon is officially a hit, breaking records as the most successful premiere in HBO history with 10 million viewers.
The new series is based on author George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy universe, but focuses on the Targaryen family and their journey to the throne. Set 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen, "House of the Dragon" introduces King Viserys, Prince Daemon, Princess Rhaenyra, Alicent Hightower, Lord Corlys Velaryon, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Otto Hightower and the knights and advisers of the family.
In the first episode, "House of the Dragon" continued the tradition of "Game of Thrones" through 4 ways:
1. Quality of production
The series has paid great attention to details, costumes and scenery that grab you immediately.
2. Sex and death
Head cutting. Ax in the face. Amputation of limbs. The brothel scene. Orgy. Sex. Blood. "Normal" things for "Game of Thrones" and "House of the Dragon".
3. Dragons!
We had to wait an entire season to see our first dragons on Game of Thrones, but in House of the Dragon they were everywhere. Dracarys !
4. Outstanding performances
The Game of Thrones cast delivered impressive performances even if they were just acting with a green screen behind them. This time too, the cast consists of actors who fully embody the character's traits.
Bonus: Rhaenyra's look reminiscent of Daenerys
