North Korea says six people have died after admitting Covid blast for the first time
The official KCNA news agency in North Korea said six people had died, adding that one of them had tested positive with the highly transmitted Omicron variant.
The agency said 187,800 people were being "isolated and treated" as the fever symptoms of unidentified origin spread across the country since the end of April. The news agency did not specify how many of them tested positive for Covid-19.
Experts believe that none - or very few - of the country's 26 million people have been vaccinated and fear a rapid increase in cases as health services will find it impossible to cope.

The black hole itself, known as Sagittarius A *, cannot be seen because no light or matter can escape its gravitational pull. But its shadow is traced by a glowing and hazy ring of light. The image was captured by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), a network of eight radio telescopes.
