The WHO director says Europe is once again the epicenter of the pandemic, warning: "No country is an exception."
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news conference that "it is important for all countries to increase their capacity now to ensure that appropriate measures are put in place to avoid the worst consequences of any future wave."
"While Europe is again the epicenter of the # COVID19 pandemic, no country or region is out of the woods.

It is important for all countries to surge their capacities now to ensure the right measures are in place to avert the worst consequences of any future waves. "- @DrTedros
He also warned that although vaccines save lives, they do not completely prevent the transmission of Covid and in the case of the Delta variant, vaccines reduce transmission by only 40%.
He said many countries have a "false sense of security" that vaccines have put an end to the pandemic and a belief that vaccinated people do not need to take precautions.
"Even if you are vaccinated, continue to take precautions to prevent infection yourself and to [infect] someone else who may die."
