At least eight people have been killed and many more injured while rapper Travis Scott was on stage at the Astroworld festival in Houston.
The night that was supposed to be fun has turned into tragedy as the crowd pushed towards the stage, attempts which proved fatal.
From the first data, about 50,000 people were present at the music festival, which was held outdoors.
"The crowd, for reasons we do not yet know, started pushing each other to reach the stage. This made the people in front of them unable to escape the situation. As the situation got worse, people were seen "They fell to the ground unconscious. Some of them suffered a heart attack," authorities told CNN.
About 23 people were rushed to hospital, of which 11 are in critical condition and 8 others could not survive. Among the critically ill patients is a 10-year-old.
Houston police and event security staff immediately stopped the concert as soon as they noticed things were spiraling out of control, but the biggest damage had been done. The cause of the crowd's reaction is still unknown, but authorities are investigating to find out what caused it and, secondly, what stopped people from escaping the situation.
