When you get distracted at work, you lose focus. A University of California study found that employees who were distracted by phone calls or emails wanted at least 23 minutes to get back to work, and this was accompanied by stress and frustration.
It can happen to all of us, but if you constantly feel unproductive at work, it is your wrong habits that are to blame.
1. You constantly check your personal phone while you have work to wait
Just open Instagram for 1 second and you will stay there for 5, 10, 15 minutes. Waste time in vain!
2. Deal with other things that will cost you "1 moment" yourself
In an instant you are dealing with a job, the next moment you find yourself looking to book the bar for the evening, or ordering new shoes online. So you forget what you had to do and as a result productivity drops. It is a good idea to take on work-related tasks during your work hours, and after delegating them, spend as much time as you want. Do not waste energy on things that will not be worth it.
3. On your computer, there are many open tables
This mess means distributing attention to many things at once. Get organized and deal with priorities. Only then will you be 100% focused on what you are doing.
4. You start solving problems without realizing if it's up to you to solve them first
Which means you spend your time and energy on things that may not belong to you. Do not immediately seek solutions. First ask yourself if it is part of your role and then explore other options.
5. You think you are right
When you do not accept criticism and insist on your theory unless you will learn the correct version, you will deprive yourself of a lot of energy that you can use to be productive in your tasks.
6. Schedule trivial appointments
Too many meetings just scatter, doing more harm to daily work. Try to choose other forms of communication.
