Dr. Sasha Hamdani is a certified psychiatrist, specialized in helping people with ADHD, but in this video , she shares a private moment during a panic attack that happens to her. Hamdan explains what caused her panic attack (it was ADHD-related trauma), and also describes the physical symptoms she was experiencing including heavy breathing and increased heart rate. The doctor struggles with tears and says she has to stop filming because of the symptoms, but she leaves the camera on. You can hear the deep breathing and understand the 3 steps she took to calm herself:
- He hides in the car, so he walks away from the one who provoked the panic attack.
- Try to breathe from the stomach and not from the chest / throat.
- Trying to find the letters of her name on the license plates of cars in the parking lot.
If you find yourself having a panic attack, try one or all three techniques to alleviate the physical symptoms. Contact a psychiatrist / psychologist to find out more about why you have panic attacks. Read more article: Panic Attack vs. Anxiety Attack: What's the Difference?
