How long should you train? Less than you think

You certainly do not need to take 2 hours, or more, from your day, to do the workout, but the experts have a little more to say about that.

Everyone is different, so you need to know that the specific needs and goals of anyone can change the following recommendations. However, according to certified trainer Brooke Taylor, "the average person should do at least 3-5 workouts a week, 30-60 minutes each - distributed throughout the week for cardiovascular health, muscle strength and endurance."

The CDC suggests that most people do 150 minutes of exercise a week with moderate intensity. This breaks down into about 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week, or into a long workout 2 hours a week, plus 30 minutes on another day.

You should also aim to include at least two days of strength training (or any type of muscle-strengthening workout), again according to the CDC.

Dividing the exercises into "pieces" even smaller than 30 minutes is also okay, as long as the time reaches 150 minutes.

How different factors affect

Of course, that all depends on the type of exercise. You know that a HIIT workout is not the same as a yoga session. The CDC says that if you engage in vigorous or intense exercise, such as running, you can replace the "150 minutes" with 75 minutes.

To understand where your workout stands on the intensity scale, you can think about breathing, heart rate, and whether you are able to speak easily or have a conversation during the workout. If you can talk, most likely do an exercise in the moderate intensity category. According to the CDC, examples of this type of exercise include brisk walking, cycling, tennis, water gymnastics and more.

Energetic activity increases heart rate more than moderate activity and you will understand it because you will not be able to speak during exercise. Energetic exercises include running, cycling, etc.

At the end of the day, the duration of your workout is not as crucial as long as you do the total amount of workout recommended.

Remember to rest when you realize you have outdone yourself and realize that in a few days, there is no problem if you do just about anything.
