The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha has announced tonight the departure of Sali Berisha from the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party. During the press release, the Democratic President said that Berisha will no longer be a member of the party to avoid any kind of misunderstanding.
"In order to avoid any misunderstanding until the end of the review of the legal request for transparency and full clarification of the case in court, Berisha will not be a member of the PD parliamentary group."
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha was declared "non-grata" in the US on May 19 for "high-level corruption" and "violation of democracy".
Berisha considered the decision unfounded and politically motivated. For this, on August 5 he said that he has sued Blinken for defamation in the Paris Correctional Court.
A few months ago, around July, the US requested through the embassy in Tirana, the distancing of the DP from Berisha, a decision which was made official today (September 9).
