Greta Thunberg did turn 18 on Sunday, January 3rd and thanked all the people who follow her with a slightly weird message on Twitter, for the way she would celebrate.
The Swedish activist has been known for her sarcasm and communication skills since she took the stage at the age of 15, so a Twitter post could not be less ironic:
"Thank you very much for all the congratulations on my 18th birthday! Tonight you will find me below the neighborhood bar, exposing all the dark secrets behind the conspiracy theories of climate and school strike and the wicked people who can no longer control me. I am finally free !! ”

The post is a "mockery" of all those who thought that Greta was just a child, used by people older and more powerful than her.
She won the first Gulbenkian Prize, a humanitarian award, and donated a portion of it ($ 1.14 million) to fight the coronavirus in the Amazon rainforest. Thunberg also donated $ 100,000 from another Human Act Award to the United Nations Children's Fund to help children affected by Covid-19.
In an interview for her 18th birthday, she says the ideal gift for her is a "promise from everyone that they will do everything they can" for the planet.
However, when asked for a more tangible gift, she chose some new lanterns for the bike, explaining:
"In Sweden, it gets very dark during the winter."
Greta Thunberg says she has stopped buying new clothes, but does not judge others at all, nor the less environmentally friendly choices people make in their lifestyle.
In the worst case, Greta says she will "buy used clothes", even though "what she has is enough".
