Sarah Roberts, hair expert and author of "You and Your Hair", as well as Lissa Caddy give basic tips to make hair grow faster
# 1 - It all starts with the scalp
"Our scalp is the birthplace of our hair," says Roberts.
"Understanding the basics we need to provide to have a healthy scalp is vital to having healthy hair afterwards."
Cady adds:
"Dead skin cells, sebum / fat, sweat, bacteria, odors and pollution all accumulate on the scalp, which can cause inflammation."
Addressing scalp conditions, such as dandruff, eczema and psoriasis, will provide a healthier scalp environment, which in turn optimizes hair growth and health.
# 2 - A healthy scalp = healthy hair.
Think of your head / scalp as a flower bed. "If you neglect it, throw garbage in it, do not clean it, then you will never grow beautiful, vibrant and healthy flowers," says Caddy.
# 3 - Using heat
We have all heard horror stories from overheating, but if we are realistic, sometimes we have to use a hot dryer or curling iron to shape our hair.
However, something needs to be done here as well. A good choice are heat protection products. These products coat your strands with ingredients that protect the hair from damage that comes along with styling.
"However, this (heat) damage is irreversible, so do not make it part of your daily routine," adds Roberts.
# 4 - Hair supplements really work
"Some supplements can be helpful in giving hair a boost, especially if we think our diet is not 100 percent healthy," says Caddy, noting that hair loss is not always caused by eating problems.
"A good supplement with a focus on hair, should contain vitamins and minerals such as iron, B12, vitamin D, etc., which if you accidentally lack them, can cause hair loss.
# 5 - Invest in protecting your hair
This goes beyond just a heat shield. Here we are talking about oils, masks, pillowcases, etc.
