Earlier this year, Meghan the Stallion was shot in the leg with a gun. After the incident, there was a wealth of conflicting information, although Meghan identified Canadian rapper Tory Lanez as the person who committed the crime.
Yesterday, October 8, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office issued a statement, formally accusing Lanez of a firearm crime charge. He also faces charges of causing "a major bodily injury".
Lanez will appear in court on October 13. The report describes the incident, reporting that Lanez shot Meghan in the leg "several times".
"On July 12, the defendant and the 24-year-old victim quarreled while getting into a car in the Hollywood Hills," the statement said.
If convicted, Lanez faces 22 years and eight months in prison.
Meghan offered her version of the incident after it happened. In an Instagram post, she explained that she was not arrested, as some points claimed she was taken into custody.
"The news that is being reported about Sunday morning events is inaccurate and I would like to clarify. "On Sunday morning, I had gunshot wounds as a result of a crime that was committed against me and was done with the intention of physically harming me," she wrote.

"I was never arrested, the police officers took me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets. I am extremely grateful that I am alive and expected to recover fully, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night. "I am now focused on my recovery, so I can get back to my life and my music as soon as possible."
Jim Lewis, Lanez's lawyer, told Vulture that "the victim was not seriously injured". Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion's lawyer, Alex Spiro, responded to Vulture magazine with just:
