Psychologists and hospital doctors reacted to the serious incident yesterday, where another patient with Covid-19 committed suicide at Covid-2 Hospital.
In the "Opinion" section of News24, psychotraumatology, Besarta Taçi commented on the issue.
She said that it is the total isolation within the walls of hospitals, the main reason that leads patients to do these extreme acts, as they feel lonely and at the same time scared about their battle with the virus.
"Institutions should be activated and social care specialists should be called. "Otherwise, suicide cases may increase, as the psycho-social service is very important," she said.
Taçi advised to allow video and telephone communication for at least a few minutes, of patients with their families, teaching them (family members) how to behave, to make the whole situation more psychologically easier.
"The patient may get tired at the moment of communication, but this communication should not be denied, because he feels weak, lonely."
Meanwhile, the Covid-2 hospital (Shefqet Ndroqi) also reacted regarding the event. One of the hospital doctors says:
"We are here and we are doing this extraordinary work to save lives from the dangerous and treacherous disease that has affected the whole world. We express our sincere condolences to the family of the 65-year-old. We assure the citizens that we will serve with dedication and sacrifice for all patients. "
