More information: Around 1629-1631, the bubonic plague struck northern and central Italy and caused nearly 2 million casualties, then 1/4 of the population. It was a dark period, but on the other hand, people also wanted to get drunk or drink a little alcohol.

Even? And so some people had the brilliant idea of ??buchetta del vino: a hole in the wall through which wine could be passed to people on the street. The Italian newspaper La Repubblica says it was first mentioned in a 1634 book.
