The Association of Intercity and Suburban Transport, through a statement to the media, said that public transport may not resume on Monday, if the conditions proposed to the government are not met.
"We have asked the responsible institutions to take the necessary measures that will enable the performance of the service according to the published protocols. Specifically: free public transport for all categories during the pandemic period guaranteed through funding from central and local authorities responsible, practice followed by countries in the region and the EU. In these conditions, the operators guarantee maximum readiness for the strict observance of the security protocol. ?
Another alternative is compensation from the state for 30% of the remaining vacant capacity, excise duty and fuel tax removal, removal of transport VAT for 2020 and by 2021 to go to 6% (from 20% that is currently) and reimbursement for the benefit categories of free public transport.
In another post, the Association writes:
"The account is simple:
1. 30% of the capacity is limited by the state
2. Urban residents will have limited capacity and this will reduce the flow of intercity transport. So minus another 30%
3. 10% are afraid to travel
4. 10% have heat to travel without air conditioning because air conditioning is not allowed but only natural ventilation.
5. 20% flee by informal transport. On the other hand, you have the obligation to respect the distance of 1.5 M, to disinfect the buses and to be provided with alcohol, to equip the staff with masks and gloves. If they are not respected and they catch you in error, in addition to the hefty fine, the prison is endangered with the new changes in the criminal code! ?
Such requests were made public a few days ago, through a letter signed by the President of the National Association of Urban Transport, the President of the Association of Urban and Suburban Transport and the President of the Urban and Interurban North Association.
