A French hospital that re-tested samples taken from patients suffering from pneumonia recently revealed that it had treated a coronavirus patient since December 27, almost two months before France confirmed the first cases of Covid-19.
Dr. Yves Cohen of Avicenne and Jean Verdier hospitals on the outskirts of Paris told BFM TV (via The Guardian) that the scientists re-tested the samples taken from 24 patients, who in December and January were negative for the flu.
"In 24 people, we had a positive patient with Covid-19 and we treated him since December 27," he said.
Samples were collected to investigate the flu and PCR tests were used, which were also used to detect the presence of coronavirus in the body. Each of the samples was tested several times to make sure there were no errors.
"Knowing when the first case may have been is essential to understanding how the virus spread," Cohen added.
This creates a clear picture that the virus has been circulating in Europe since late December and early January. As for our country, it is worth noting that at the end of April, Saimir Kodra said that the anti-corruption test showed that "it has passed the coronavirus since January". Also, referring to an open discussion on abanabel_media on Instagram, there were many people who said that "they may have passed Covid-19 in January and February".
