Bullism - abuse of words, nicknames, threatening gestures, insults, physical violence - is a phenomenon that affects children with special needs or disabilities immensely. Finally, Yarraka Bayles, a mother from Australia, gave a real testimony of the tragic consequences of bullism.
On Facebook, she shared a video of her 9-year-old son, Quaden, born with nanism, who bursts into tears in the car after someone had mocked him for the length.
?I want to stab myself in the heart. I want someone to kill me, ?the little boy is heard saying.
Amid the tears, Quaden's mother says:
"I want people to know that this is the effect of bullism. Here's what causes the bullying. ?
Among other things, Yarraka points out that he has to be constantly watchful because of Quaden's attempts to kill himself. She rightly emphasizes that parents should pay more attention to educating their children, teaching them not to harass those who are different. Schools and education policies and schools have the same importance in children's education.
Her video has been viewed by more than 18 million people and has been shared nearly 316,000 times.
Immediately after the event, someone posted the case of Quaden on GoFundMe , where up to now $ 194,000 has been raised to take the 9-year-old to Disneyland.
It is not the first time the phenomenon of bullism in schools has been addressed. In September 2019, Annie Price, a woman who was burned in her childhood and experienced bullying, wrote:
"If you see someone who finds it difficult to make friends, or is suffering from bullism because he has no friends or is not so handsome or is not wearing any more 'in' clothes - please dili in his arms. Hello or just smile in the hallway. You have no idea what anyone outside of school can face. Your kindness can make a huge difference in one's life. ?
